It’s that time of year again.

The beginning of a new year means that everyone is setting their (often slightly unobtainable) resolutions for the coming year, and whether you like to participate in this tradition or not, it’s still a good time to reflect on various goals for the coming year.

But when it comes to resolutions, one area that doesn’t come up too often is nail care.

So, if you’re still looking for some resolutions for the coming year, feel free to take a leaf out of our book and set some nail resolutions for 2017 like the ones listed below.

1. Make a Point to Moisturize Your Hands Regularly

Keeping your hands moisturized only helps your nails to look and feel better too – and this is especially important during the cold winter months when our skin starts to really dry out.

So, make a point to keep your hands moisturized by applying hand lotion after washing your hands or going outside for long periods of time.

Consider keeping a pocket sized bottle of lotion in your purse, pocket of glove box so you always have some handy when your skin starts to feel rough.

2. Schedule Regular Manicures and Pedicures

Make your nail health a priority this year by scheduling regular manicures and pedicures.

Not only will this help your skin and nails to look and feel amazing, along with remaining in tip-top health, but you’ll also feel so much more relaxed.

It’s important to take time out of your busy schedule for “you” time and self care – and scheduling regular manicures and pedicures can be a great way to achieve this.

3. Take Care of Your Cuticles Between Manicures

Regularly scheduled manicures is a great way to keep your nails looking and feeling healthy, but it’s also important to take care of your cuticles in between visits.

One way to do this is by applying cuticle cream daily.

Not only does this keep your nails looking amazing all the time, but it also keeps everything moisturized and prevents painful cracking.

4. Try Something New with Your Nails

Branching out and trying something new can be difficult and even a little scary at times, but when it comes to your nails, you shouldn’t be afraid to switch things up!

If you typically stick with neutral nail polish colors, why not try something a bit brighter or more colorful this year?

Or if you only ever wear plain colors, why not try a pattern like stripes, dots or something different entirely?

Whatever you’re used to, make a point to try something new in 2017!

5. Strengthen Your Nails Through Healthy Eating Habits

It may sound strange, but nail health often begins with what we decide to put into our bodies.

One this that’s incredibly important to optimal nail health is water consumption – as in, it’s necessary to drink lots of water and stay hydrated in order to keep your nails healthy and strong.

Also, choosing to eat a balanced diet rich in protein and other nutrients can help to strengthen nails from the inside out, so you’ll have healthy nails for years to come.

So, if you’re looking to improve your nail health this year, be sure to give some of these ideas a try. Good luck, and Happy New Year from your friends at Knox Heights Nail Spa in Uptown Dallas!
